Position is first shift Monday through Friday:
No Nights, No Weekends, No Holidays and No On-Call hours.
This position starts and ends each day at the Shops in Ithaca, NY; hours during the day scheduled at JM Murray Day Habilitation program.
Successful candidates will act as a bus monitor for assigned route to and from the assigned location (example: Ithaca/Tompkins County area). Assists consumers on and off of the bus, secures wheelchairs, monitors the safety of consumers during transit and provides general oversight. Position will also provide direct services to consumers through the implementation of service and support plans, documentation of data and other means assigned and as established by the planning team to address habilitative, therapeutic and behavioral needs. Candidates will maintain knowledge of and regularly reviews the Transit Rider Sheets. During day habilitation hours, other responsibilities include, performing necessary direct support duties to ensure consumer safety, health, hygiene and development; Duties including support with dining, personal care and hygiene needs, assistance to enter and exit buses/company vehicles, etc.
Requirements: HS diploma or equivalent; strong communication skills; sound decision-making & judgment; Ability to lift at least 50 pounds; valid NYS driver’s license & reliable, insured vehicle. Clearance required through the NYS Justice Center (OPWDD/OMH criminal background check), Office of People with Developmental Disabilities, and NYS Department of Motor Vehicles.
