ASSISTING PEOPLE IN OBTAINING & MAINTAINING EMPLOYMENT

Employment Connection logo with green and blue colors and JM Murray logo in bottom left corner

Employment Connection, JM Murray’s Employment Services Department, is a community-based service that embraces an “employment first” philosophy to assist people of all abilities towards obtaining and maintaining employment. Using evidence-based practices, job seekers are guided through the employment process, from resume development to person-centered job matches in competitive, integrated employment. Job development and situational assessments are among our areas of expertise. Wrap-around services such as job-search workshops, and disability analysts are offered to provide the most comprehensive of approaches.

Our work is funded by Adult Career and Continuing Educational Services–Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR), Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), local contracts with the Department of Social Services (DSS), and Cortland County Office of Mental Health.

Individuals interested in applying for Employment Services should contact us at intake@jmmurray.com or (607) 756-4041.

Here at Employment Connection, we work with people of all types of disabilities, including:

  • Intellectual Disabilities- These involve limitations in cognitive functioning.
  • Learning Disabilities- These affect how a person processes information, despite average or above-average intelligence. For example: Dyslexia (reading).
  • Physical Disabilities- These impact movement, strength, balance, coordination, stamina, or sensory functions. For example: Cerebral palsy, Spinal cord injury, Muscular dystrophy, or Limb loss (amputation).
  • Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities- These affect emotional regulation, behavior, attention, or participation in daily life. For example: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety disorders, or Depression.
Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS):

  • We can start working with students as young as 14 years old.
  • ACCES-VR website defines Pre-ETS as, “five services designed to provide early support to students with disabilities and improve post-secondary outcomes.”
